The Museum of the Holy Souls in Purgatory - Rome

The ‘ Museum of the Holy Souls in Purgatory’ housed in a room of the small neo-Gothic church of the Sacred Heart of Suffrage (Chiesa del Sacro Cuore del Suffragio) in Rome, Italy on March 5, 2025 is one of a kind in the world as it pretends to offer undeniable proofs of the existence of Purgatory. - Pictured: Portrait of Victor Jouet (1839-1912), French missionary who decided to search for testimonies (documents and looms) about the appearances of the souls of Purgatory and to collect them in a museum inside the church. - The tiny century-old ‘Piccolo Museo Del Purgatorio’ holds a collection of bibles, prayer books, tabletops, and articles of clothing said to have been singed by the hands of souls in purgatory. The very unusual collection was commissioned by French missionary Victor Jouet following the events of 15 November 1897, when a mysterious fire broke out in the Rosary Chapel, in which the altar painting was spared. (240331) -- LHASA, March 31, 2024 (Xinhua) -- This photo taken on March 13, 2024 shows a portrait of Namgyal. Born in 1945, Namgyal grew up in what is now Doilungdeqen District in Lhasa. Namgyal recalled that his worst memory was the rain, which would seep through the leaky roof and wet his only suit of clothing, leaving him to continue working for the serf owner the next day in soaked clothes. After the democratic reform in 1959, life of Namgyal and his family totally changed. The family of four received dwellings, livestock and farmland. Namgyal learned to play the accordion and became a member of the Doilungdeqen art troupe. He later had the opportunities to perform in Beijing and many other cities in China. The four children of Namgyal earned successful careers and all of his eight grandchildren received good education and made their ways into universities.
